Polynesian legend has it that the black pearl oyster was offered to man by Ono, the god of peace and fertility, who came down to earth on a rainbow. He offered the black pearl inside to the beautiful princess of Bora Bora as a sign of his eternal love. To this day, a gift of black pearls is a gift of romance and is a sign of eternal love.
